Otto Snow is a renegade scientist out of the loops of academia, the pharmaceutical industry, lab science and special interest groups. Several papers also deal with lab-extractions of Ergot and synthetic routes ending in pure LSD-25. Another rare paper by Albert Hoffman is titled “Tabletting Lysergic Acid Amides”, and this includes sections on “Blotter Carrier”, “Thin Film Carrier”: “Clearlight or Gel”, “Preparation of Clearlight of “Sheeting”, “Lamellae” (Lamellae, also called Lamells are eye-disks containing small medical amounts of drugs. Ergot is then collected for manufacturing LSD-25. As well are excellent references regarding the growing of Claviceps purpurea by botanists. At least 25 rare science papers on LSD-25 synthesis methods are reprinted. Methods for dosing sheets of LSD blotter-paper (these papers were central to many underground LSD chemists work ). Hand-crank tartarate tabletting machines are shown, as well as compressed tablet machines. Of special interests are photos of tabletting machines running from 1844 through 1980. This deals with start-to-finish manufacturing, and how the pro’s did it. What makes this book so unusual is the extensive reprints of rare academic articles by famous LSD researchers like Aurther Stoll, Hans Kobel and others. Snow is also author of several books on psychoactives including “Oxy” (Thoth Press, 1901) and “Amphetamine Synthesis” (Thoth Press, 2002) which has gone through several printings. After several prescriptions and failed therapies, he discovered small amounts of LSD-25 relieved his illness. Retired chemist Otto Snow suffered from hemiparasaethetic migraine headaches at age 15, which resembles a stroke. Snow’s “LSD” is an exciting and unique book - well-worth grabbing for many reasons. It is estimated that over 1000 books alone have appeared in the US and Europe regarding LSD-25. Having over 600 books and hundreds of academic papers on psychedelics and related hallucinogens, it is rare to find truly new information on LSD-25. Another concern is the reproduction of copyrighted images without the consent of the artists.įamous Blotter Art artists include: Mark McCloud, Thomas Lyttle, Stevee Postman. In 2004 MAPS (the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) received almost $20,000 as a result of sales of Blotter Art signed by Albert Hofmann.Īs a result of the growing popularity of the art-form, and high prices generated, Blotter Art is sometimes counterfeited. It is important to realise that although Blotter Art is now un-dipped, selling it (or giving it away) and claiming it contains LSD is STILL an offence.īlotter Art can reach high prices, particularly when signed by prominent figures from the psychedelic movement. It is estimated that he spent more than half a million dollars on his defence. This was his second arrest (the first was in 1991). The DEA claimed that having 30,000 Blotter Art sheets in his possession meant that he was supplying chemists and wholesalers. In 2000 McCloud was charged with "conspiracy to manufacture and distribute LSD". Initially his collection was based on street prints, which have subsequently been exposed to UV light to destroy the LSD. The original collector and originator of the scene is Mark McCloud, a San Francisco artist (and former Art Professor). This is art as a collectible and has never been dipped. Some iconic images have been circulating since the 70's (Eg: Hofmann's, Eye of Horus, Knights of Malta) other art work is dubbed "Vanity Blotter Art". There are distinctions within Blotter Art. This imagery originally served as an identifier of different batches of LSD, a form of "trademark". There is also a distinct sub-category of satirical Blotter Art, including images such as "Gorby" and "FBI". Occult and religious symbols have also been widely used. Images have typically been psychedelic in nature, or relied heavily on cartoon images. Over the years Blotter Art has developed as a field in its own right, with images ranging from multiple repeats (so each trip has a complete image), to complex images spanning a whole sheet. Secondly: There were many high profile busts in the late 60's and early 70's, during which pill presses were seized, LSD blotter was therefore more convenient for many to make. The move to lightweight LSD blotter therefore reduced sentences. If someone had LSD on a sugar cube weighing 1g then the sentence was the same as for an individual caught with 1g of crystal LSD (representing approx 10,000 LSD doses rather than just 1)!. Sentences were determined by the weight of the substance with which offenders were caught. ![]() There are likely two main reasons for this: Firstly, after LSD was made illegal in the US (in 1967) mandatory minimum sentencing was introduced. From the mid 1970's blotter has been the most available form of LSD.

The photos taken with the Kirlian camera are images that replicate the famous crown effect around human heads. ![]() They also believed that this device was the scientific proof of the existence of the aura, and which now has an updated version. They claimed that it was capable of photographing the human aura. Semyon Davidovich and Valentina Krisona Kirlian were the inventors of the famous Kirlian camera in 1939. Kilner said he had found the way to see auras and diagnose diseases from them. He said it was a sphere of fire or “igneous globe” that became more visible the more evolved a person was. The first to speak directly about the human aura was Paracelsus, in the 16th century. Does this mean that artists from different and distant peoples agreed on the reality of the halo? They also represented sacred figures or important characters with this light over their heads. It’s quite interesting to note that, in other distant cultures, such as that of the Aztecs in Mexico, they did the very same thing. The tradition passed on to other cultures and that’s why many people represent Roman Catholic saints in this way. This identified them as divine, or enlightened, beings. I slipped Londsale’s portrait of me, small grey eyes with a deep purple halo (the colour of royalty, and dreamers), between the pages.Since the times of ancient Egypt, people began to draw a kind of halo over the heads of gods and goddesses. They reflect our search for the next selfie, for attention, for ourselves. They reflect our need to understand, record, groom and validate. Lonsdale’s photographs are the powerful mirror she says they are, but what they reflect is a picture bigger than the colour of a soul. Something in the human spirit accepts art’s ability to shift its own microns, but will resist art’s ability to project those microns back on itself. Something in the human spirit is suspicious of auras and yet readily embraces all manner of other, invisible things – the internet, gravity, the way a camera works – with blind and ready optimism. The more complex answer, the one where you can send program changes to Kontakt and get it to change instruments on that channel (e.g, respond sort of like a GM module or HW module, it will not actually be GM complaint, but close enough for this discussion) is: I say in general because you might have a particular small comob (a favorite upright bass, EP, vibes, guitar, flute, and drum kit and you use them form 90% of you jazz tunes then this will be GREAT for all tunes that use that "combo" ) fxb file) not the Kontatk (.nkb) file (which is what I think you want), then you can recall that set up for that song in BIAB or RB (won't be very useful, in general, outside that song) or as a Multi (in Kontakt - "Save Multi as") again won’t be real useful outside that BIAB/RB song (in general). Adaptive v-sync tearing manifests occasionally on both consoles, but it's unnoticeable during the run of play.Īs expected, Metro 2033 on PlayStation 4 at 1080p doesn't throw up any particular problems either - a single dropped frame across the entire duration, making it a close match for its Xbox One 912p sibling. Metro Last Light compared on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. To all intents and purposes, this is a locked 60 frames per second. We see adaptive v-sync kick in twice during our test session, resulting in a minute amount of fleeting tearing at the very top of the screen - essentially invisible then, tucked into the overscan on most displays. Our first port of call is Metro Last Light - the more modern of the two titles and thus the game more likely to challenge the Xbox One hardware. We went back to the Redux versions this week and captured several hours' worth of footage, producing new assets to match our existing work, and the results are all good. However, questions remained unanswered from last week's article - could PS4 match Xbox One's excellent performance on Metro 2033 while retaining its resolution advantage? And perhaps more importantly, could the Xbox One handle the more technologically ambitious Metro Last Light with the same aplomb as the PlayStation 4 version? The Xbox One version of Metro 2033 dropped just two frames throughout our test duration, while PlayStation 4 proved flawless across the length of our Metro Last Light tests. Xbox One renders at 912p vs the PS4's 1080p, but it was the frame-rate lock to 60fps that really caught the eye. We compared the new editions to the original console versions, noting some remarkable differences - not least the impressive boosts to both physical and temporal resolution. The Redux version for Last Light also comes with all of the DLC for Last Light.Last week we presented a first look at the forthcoming Metro Redux - remastered versions of the classic Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light coming soon to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux are both the games rebuilt on the 4A engine with better visuals and some physics stuff added in, they also stay consistent with abilities and things, so things that were a part of Last Light may have traveled back into 2033, for example I believe cobwebs that can burn were one of those things. Metro 2033 being the first, and Last Light the second, so they are not the same. I intend to have a first go a bit latter on so I wouldn't want to start them in the wrong order or anything !
